Terms of Service
Last updated: October 12, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using HALL, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app. HALL is operated by Technites, based in Orem, Utah.
1a. Where HALL Is Offered
HALL is offered only in the United States (including its territories), South Korea and Japan. It is not offered in, and is not directed at, any other country, including the member states of the European Union. You may not create an account or buy anything on HALL from outside those three countries.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use HALL (14 in South Korea). If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Content You Create
You retain ownership of the content you post on HALL, including debate topics, comments, and recordings. By posting content, you grant HALL a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and store your content on the platform. Public content (debate topics, comments) is visible to all users. You may dissociate your name from content you created, but the content itself remains on the platform.
Ads and paid promotion. If a video, photo or post includes paid promotion, a sponsorship, affiliate links or ads, you must say so when you upload it (the “paid promotion” box), as advertising laws in the United States, South Korea and Japan require. Viewers see a “Paid promotion” label. You may also mark where the ads are. Separately, HALL scans every uploaded video before it goes live — its speech and the text shown on screen — to find ads and sponsorships, including ones that aren’t disclosed; while the scanner is running, a new video stays visible only to you until its scan finishes (at most 3 days); otherwise it goes live straight away and is scanned as soon as the scanner is back. HALL Pass members skip every ad segment found.
AI-generated content. If what you post was generated or substantially altered by an AI tool, tick “Made with AI”. HALL labels it for everyone and hides it from HALL Pass members who use AI-free mode. HALL also reads the metadata in uploaded files (such as Content Credentials) to detect AI-generated media, and labels content the community flags. Deliberately hiding paid promotion or AI generation can lead to removal.
4b. Creator Program
To publish your own work on HALL (videos, podcasts and writing now; music as it opens; photos in photo HALL are posts under section 4h) you join the Creator Program at /creator by accepting the Creator Terms shown there, which are part of these Terms. HALL Pass is not required to join. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must agree to the Creator Terms with you, and your earnings are paid to their payout account. Taking your work down. What you publish as a creator is yours to take off HALL. Ask from creator HALL or from the piece itself; HALL takes it down once it has reviewed the request, normally within a few days, and tells you. HALL may keep a piece up only if the law requires it, if there is an open report, dispute or legal claim about it, or if it is not yours to take down, and it tells you which. If you are under 18, HALL grants the request unless one of those legal exceptions applies. Once a piece is down it stops earning; what it earned before then is still paid, and HALL may keep a private copy where the law requires. A takedown you asked for never affects your good standing. If you publish videos, podcast episodes or articles, HALL shares the advertising revenue they earn with you. Each calendar month, the advertising revenue HALL receives that is attributable to creator uploads is divided among creators in proportion to the watch, listen and reading time that people who are shown advertising (people without a HALL Pass or a HALL Pass Jr month) gave their uploads that month, as measured by HALL’s servers; time from HALL Pass members and people in a HALL Pass Jr month, who see no advertising, is not counted. Only Verified accounts are paid. Advertising share, tips and payouts are credited only to accounts that have completed HALL’s identity check (Verified, section 4e). Until an account is Verified its uploads are still published and their time is still measured, but their share of advertising revenue is retained by HALL and tips on them are not offered; it is not paid retroactively. Each upload’s share is paid at your rate for that upload, which starts at 10% and rises as you meet these conditions: the upload is marked “Only on HALL” and is not published anywhere else (+15%); your account is Verified (+15%); you hold an active HALL Pass or Grand HALL Pass (+20%); enough of your viewers that month are people who use HALL regularly, as set out in money HALL (+15%); and you are in good standing, with no removed uploads or undeclared advertising or AI content in the look-back period (+15%). The maximum is 90%. HALL keeps the remainder. Viewers may also tip a creator by card on an upload, and tip any Verified member with an active HALL Pass on their profile if that member has left tips on in Settings. A tip is a payment to Technites LLC, not to the recipient; HALL credits the recipient their rate (for that upload, or their general rate for a profile tip, which for a Verified HALL Pass member is at least 60%) of the tip after the card processing fee, and pays it with their other earnings. Tips are not refundable; if one is refunded or charged back anyway, the amount credited is taken back from the creator’s balance, which may go below zero and is then netted against later earnings. Only advertising revenue and tips are shared: HALL Pass and Grand HALL Pass subscription payments and karma purchases belong to HALL in full and are not shared with creators at this time. Rates are worked out when the month is split and are shown in money HALL.
“Only on HALL” is a promise that the video is not posted on any other site or app. You may withdraw it at any time, but you cannot restore it for that upload. If an upload marked Only on HALL is found elsewhere, it earns at the lower rate and HALL may withhold that upload’s earnings.
Balances of US$10 or more are paid on or about the 5th of the following month through Stripe to the payout account you connect; smaller balances carry forward. You are responsible for any taxes on what you earn, and Stripe may require identity and tax information before paying you. HALL may withhold, reverse or forfeit earnings that come from fraud, artificial or automated views, false exclusivity, undeclared paid promotion, content that violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or content you did not have the right to upload. Advertising revenue depends on advertisers and ad networks; HALL does not guarantee any amount. HALL may change the rates, conditions or program with 30 days’ notice in money HALL.
4c. Passes
HALL Pass ($14.99/month) removes advertising from HALL and adds the features listed on the Passes page. Grand HALL Pass ($49.99/month) includes HALL Pass and every paid HALL. A HALL Channel Pass ($5/month each) gives full access to one paid HALL; it does not remove advertising. Which HALLs are paid can change as HALL makes content agreements; HALL will tell subscribers before a HALL they use becomes paid. Upgrading from HALL Pass to Grand HALL Pass ends the HALL Pass subscription and credits its unused time. All passes renew monthly until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time from Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Prices may include or exclude tax depending on where you live.
4d. Challenges
Verified members with an active HALL Pass may challenge posts. Up to three challengers may challenge a post; challengers may withdraw during the 48-hour challenge period. If three challengers take part, they debate each other in a one-hour live round in which the audience may cheer and vote. The audience’s vote decides the champion unless only one challenger remains. The person who posted then has 48 hours to accept or decline; a challenge not answered in that time is recorded as declined. The number of challenges a person has declined, accepted and won is shown on their profile. Challenges and challenge debates are subject to these Terms and the Community Guidelines; harassment through repeated or bad-faith challenges is not allowed. Content from outside HALL (for example podcasts or news articles) can be challenged; there is no poster to respond, so the champion instead receives an open debate on the topic.
4e. Reposts and quotes
You may repost or quote content that is on HALL; the original stays attributed to its author and removing the original removes it from reposts. Content from outside HALL is shared only as a link with its title and preview image, as the source publishes them; HALL does not copy outside articles, episodes or videos.
4f. Goals and funding
Some parts of HALL show the goals we are working toward and let you fund them. Funding is a voluntary, one-time card payment to Technites LLC, which runs HALL, and is used to build the part of HALL you funded. Each project shows a goal and a bar of how much has been raised toward it. HALL builds its projects in the order shown on project HALL (the project ladder), and a project that is fully funded early may start sooner. Even if a project isn’t fully funded, HALL will still try to build it, paying the rest from its own earnings; if a project can’t be built at all (for example, because the law doesn’t allow it), the money goes toward HALL’s other work — it is not refunded. Technites LLC is not a registered charity, so funding is not tax-deductible; they are also not an investment and give no ownership, profits or voting rights in HALL. The goals shown are what we are working toward, not a promise of a product, a date or a result. As a thank-you you receive karma at the same rate as the karma packs; karma has no cash value. Funding is non-refundable except where the law requires; if a payment is refunded or reversed, the karma it earned is removed.
4g. Communities in community HALL
Any member whose account is at least three days old may start a community. The founder may set its title, description and suggested rules, but there are no moderators: no member, founder or club leader can remove another person’s posts. Members respond to what they disagree with by voting, replying or challenging. HALL Pass members may choose to hide posts voted below a score they pick; hidden posts are not removed. Votes are private; scores are public.
Communities may be named after a brand, product, team, show or other trademark as unofficial fan communities, provided they do not impersonate the trademark owner or suggest they are official, endorsed or affiliated. A community’s name, address or description may not claim to be “official” unless HALL runs it for or with the owner. A trademark owner who believes a community impersonates them or causes confusion may report it using “Trademark / impersonation — I own this name”; after verifying ownership, HALL may transfer the community to the owner, rename it, or mark it official. HALL does not remove members’ posts over a naming dispute; only the community’s name, description or ownership changes.
4h. The permanent record
The permanent record covers what you say on HALL: debates, posts and comments. It does not cover the work you publish as a creator (videos, podcasts, articles and, when they open, music); section 4b says how you take that down. What you post on HALL stays up. You may correct typos and add as much as you like to a post or comment, but what you originally said must stay substantially the same, and HALL keeps each earlier version. You cannot delete your posts or comments; instead you may disassociate from them, which removes your name while the content stays. You may later ask HALL to put your name back; HALL decides each request. HALL keeps a private record of who wrote disassociated content, visible only to HALL’s administrators, and uses it only to respond to legal process, to enforce these Terms, or to protect people from harm. Deleting your account disassociates everything you posted, and takes your videos, podcast shows and articles off HALL. If you are under 18 and something you posted still identifies you after you disassociate from it (for example your face or voice in a debate), write to support@thegrandhall.xyz and HALL will remove it. HALL removes posts and comments only when they are unlawful (including infringing material under our Copyright Policy) or is content the app stores we distribute through require us to remove, such as sexual content involving minors, pornography, credible threats and spam.
4i. team HALL campaigns (formerly cooperate HALL)
Verified members who have set up payouts may run campaigns in team HALL to raise money for a specific task, on their own or for a team HALL issue. Campaign payments are made by card through Stripe and go directly to the organizer’s own Stripe account; HALL deducts only card-processing and payout costs (currently 3.4% + 30¢ per payment) and is not a party to any arrangement between funders and organizers. Organizers must describe honestly what the money is for, use it for that purpose, post updates, and mark the campaign done with what was accomplished. Funding a campaign is a gift to the organizer, not a purchase, investment or charitable donation, and is not tax-deductible. HALL verifies organizers’ identity but does not guarantee how funds are used. Refunds are at the organizer’s discretion except where the law requires; report suspected fraud and HALL may remove the campaign and suspend the organizer. Campaigns are available in the United States only.
4j. political HALL
political HALL lists public officials from public records and candidates who ask to be listed. HALL does not endorse or oppose any candidate or party, shows everyone the same way, and makes no warranty that the records are complete or current. When you “call” an official to HALL, you send the message yourself, from your own email, phone or account; you are responsible for what it says, and it must follow the Community Guidelines (no threats or harassment). HALL counts these calls and shows the totals publicly without names. Officials and candidates may claim or be listed only after HALL confirms who they are. Listing is not an endorsement, and HALL may remove a listing that is inaccurate.
The political questionnaire matches you with politicians by comparing your answers with the answers they publish themselves, weighted by how much each topic matters to you (and, if you choose, how they’re rated in HALL debates). A match is arithmetic, not advice or an endorsement; check what a politician has actually done before you vote. An official or candidate who answers it represents that the answers are their own real positions and that they are authorized to publish them; HALL may remove answers that are false or published without authority.
4k. ride HALL
ride HALL is a technology service that connects riders with independent drivers. Technites LLC does not provide transportation, own or operate the vehicles, or employ the drivers; drivers are independent and choose when to drive. ride HALL operates only where Technites LLC is registered as a transportation network company; until then riders can see fares but not book. Each driver carries their own rideshare insurance meeting the limits Utah requires (at least $1,000,000 per occurrence while a rider is in the car, and 50,000/100,000/30,000 while logged in and waiting); HALL checks the policy and its end date before approving a driver, and a driver cannot go online after it ends.
Fares. The fare is shown before you book and is the price you pay: a base amount plus a per-mile and per-minute rate on HALL’s estimate of the trip, with a minimum fare. There is no surge pricing. Your card is authorized (held) when you book and charged when the driver ends the ride. If you cancel before a driver has been on the way for 2 minutes, nothing is charged; after that, or once the driver has arrived, a cancellation fee shown before you cancel is charged and paid to the driver. If no driver accepts within 20 minutes, the hold is released. Drivers receive 90% of what the rider pays; HALL keeps 10%. Payments are processed by Stripe; HALL does not hold rider or driver money. You get an electronic receipt with the pickup, drop-off, time, distance and itemized fare.
Safety. Riders and drivers must be Verified. Before you get in, check that the car, plate and driver’s photo match the app, then give the driver your PIN; the ride starts only with it. Drivers are approved by HALL after reviewing their driver’s license, insurance, vehicle registration, their FBI Identity History Summary and state driving record, and the national sex-offender registry, against the standards in Utah Code 13-51. HALL cannot guarantee any driver’s or rider’s conduct. In an emergency, call 911.
Zero tolerance. Drivers may not use or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while using ride HALL. A rider who reports this in the app causes the driver to be suspended immediately while HALL investigates.
No discrimination. Drivers may not refuse or treat a rider differently because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age or any other status protected by law, and must accept service animals. Riders who use a wheelchair can request a wheelchair-accessible car at no extra charge; if none is available, HALL cannot guarantee one.
Drivers pay a one-time, non-refundable application fee (shown before payment) that covers HALL’s review of their records; it is not returned if HALL declines the application. Drivers receive up to 90% of each fare: 90% in most states. In California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Washington, state law does not allow HALL to charge drivers an application fee, so drivers there pay nothing to apply and HALL recovers the cost of reviewing drivers from fares instead: drivers in those states receive 70% of each fare. The driver’s state is the state on their driver’s license, the rate is shown on the application before the driver agrees, and the rate in effect when a driver accepts a ride applies to that ride. HALL may change a state’s rule when the law changes, with notice to affected drivers. Drivers’ rideshare insurance must be paid in full for its whole term, not in monthly installments. Drivers must keep their license, registration and personal insurance valid, carry proof of insurance, keep their car safe and legal, follow traffic laws, and tell HALL of any new conviction or license suspension. HALL may suspend or remove a driver for any violation of these terms. Trip records and driver records are kept for at least five years, as Utah law requires.
4l. Writing, podcasts and volunteer drives
Writing in news HALL. Pieces are written by members, not by HALL, and you are responsible for what yours says. Don’t present something as fact that you know is false, don’t publish anyone’s private information, credit what you quote, and label sponsored pieces and AI-written ones when you publish. Opinion pieces are shown as the writer’s own view. HALL may remove a piece that breaks these Terms or the law (for example defamation or copyright infringement) and does not check pieces before they are published.
Podcasts. Episodes you upload are Creator Program uploads under section 4b. If you link a show hosted elsewhere, you confirm it is yours (HALL checks a code you add to the show’s feed); HALL lists it and plays episodes from your host without copying them, and linked shows do not share in HALL’s advertising revenue.
Volunteer drives in help HALL. A drive is organized by the member who posts it, not by HALL. Organizers are responsible for the event itself: a safe public place, any permits, food-safety rules for anything collected, waivers or parental consent their group needs, and telling volunteers what to expect. Volunteers take part at their own risk and should not be paid for volunteering; karma given as a thank-you has no cash value, and blood drives cannot carry karma. Volunteering is for charities, public bodies and community efforts, never unpaid work for a business. Hours are recorded by the organizer and shown as a record of service, not a certification.
4m. Parties and random match
A party is a voice chat between HALL members. Random match places you in a two-person party with another member who is waiting; it is not anonymous — each of you sees the other’s HALL profile, and reporting and blocking work as everywhere else on HALL. Random match is open only to members HALL’s settings allow; unless HALL says otherwise on the Party page, that is Verified members whose identity check showed they are 18 or older, on both sides. Two people who have been matched are not matched again within a day, and people who have blocked each other are never matched. HALL Pass members may choose to be matched only with Verified members. date HALL has its own random match, open only to Verified members whose identity check showed they are 18 or older and who have an active date HALL profile; it pairs two people only when each has said they are attracted to the other’s sex, and never otherwise. Random match is for conversation; anything sexual, harassing, or otherwise against the Community Guidelines ends your access to it and may end your account.
4n. events HALL tickets
Organizers who are Verified and have set up payouts can sell tickets on events HALL. The organizer is the seller: they set the price and are responsible for holding the event, for any permits, insurance and age limits, and for any sales tax on admissions (set a tax-included price where it applies). HALL handles the payment. The price shown is the full price you pay: the ticket price, which goes to the organizer, plus HALL’s fee of 5% and the card cost. The organizer’s share is held in their own Stripe account and paid to their bank the day after the event.
Refunds are at the organizer’s discretion and are always in full, fees included, while the money hasn’t yet been paid out. If an event is cancelled, every ticket is refunded in full. A ticket is a code shown in your account; whoever presents it first is admitted, so don’t share it. Each ticket type can have a per-person limit, and buying with bots, fake accounts or to get around a limit is not allowed and can lead to cancelled tickets and a closed account. Reselling tickets outside HALL isn’t supported.
Resale on HALL. If you can’t go, you can resell a ticket on HALL before the event starts, unless the organizer has turned resale off for that ticket type. The price can never be more than 10% over the ticket’s face value. You must be Verified with payouts set up, because the buyer’s payment goes to your own Stripe account; you are the seller of that ticket and are responsible for any tax on what you receive. The buyer pays your price plus HALL’s fee (5% and the card cost), and gets the ticket with a new code, so your copy stops working. Your money is paid to your bank the day after the event. If the event is cancelled, the buyer is refunded in full from that money and you are refunded what you paid for the ticket. An organizer can’t refund an order on its own once one of its tickets has been resold. While a ticket is for sale you can’t send it on, and you can take it off sale until someone starts paying for it.
Cancelling an event that has sold tickets is done in events HALL, which refunds every sale, first and resale, in full. Once tickets have sold, an event can only move to a later date, and it can’t be deleted (cancel it instead).
Chargebacks. If a buyer disputes a ticket payment with their bank, their tickets are voided and the money is taken back from whoever received it (the organizer, or the fan who resold the ticket), including from future sales if it has already been paid out. Disputing a payment for tickets you used is not allowed and can lead to a closed account.
Reserved seats. For events with a seat map, the seats you pick are held for you while you pay. If a payment completes after its hold ran out and the seat has gone to someone else, that payment is refunded in full automatically. The organizer decides which seats are accessible and which aren’t for sale.
Guest lists and promo codes. Organizers can give free guest-list tickets, which can’t be resold and can be withdrawn by the organizer, and can offer promo codes, which lower the ticket price before HALL’s fee is added. A code can be limited in uses or time and can be turned off at any time; it doesn’t apply to resales.
4o. help, school and business HALL jobs paid in HALL
On handy HALL, a job of $20 to $3,000 is hired by paying in HALL. When the person who posted the job (the client) hires a helper, they pay the helper’s price by card. The money is held by HALL’s payment processor, Stripe, until the job is done; nothing goes to the helper before then. Each helper appoints HALL as their limited agent to collect payment for their jobs, so once the client has paid in HALL, the client has paid the helper. The agreement for the work itself is between the client and the helper: HALL doesn’t supervise, direct or guarantee the work, and helpers are independent, not HALL’s employees or agents. They choose which jobs to offer on, set their own prices, and are responsible for their own taxes; HALL sends tax forms where the law requires.
The helper can mark the job started and finished. When the client marks it done, the helper is paid 90% of the price to their bank; HALL keeps 10% and pays the card costs out of it. If the client neither marks it done nor reports a problem within 3 days of the helper marking it finished, the helper is paid. A payout reaches the helper’s bank usually within a week of the job being done.
Cancelling and problems. The helper can cancel any time before they’re paid, and the client is refunded in full. The client can cancel for a full refund until the helper marks the job started. After that, if something went wrong, the client reports a problem: the money stays held, and HALL decides after hearing both sides, either paying the helper or refunding the client in full. That decision settles the payment held in HALL; it doesn’t take away anyone’s right to go to court.
Helpers. To be paid, a helper must be Verified and have payouts set up (Stripe collects bank and tax details). A helper someone has tried to hire can get Verified without HALL Pass. On every paid offer the helper confirms they’re allowed to do that work where it is. In Utah, repairs and improvements to a building under $3,000 (labor and materials together) don’t need a contractor’s license, except plumbing, electrical, gas, heating and cooling, fire sprinkler, alarm and radon work, which always need one; for work over $1,000 the helper must have filed the Division of Professional Licensing’s one-time affirmation that they carry liability insurance. Other states have their own rules, and helpers are responsible for following them.
school HALL and business HALL. The same applies to hiring a tutor for a school HALL help request, and a freelancer for a business HALL gig: the price is for the whole thing agreed, and “helper” above means the tutor or freelancer. A tutor confirms on each paid offer that a student under 18 is taught only online or with a parent or guardian there. A freelancer confirms on each paid offer that they work as an independent contractor, that the work doesn’t need a license they don’t have, and that what they hand over is their own or they have the rights to it; unless the two of you agree otherwise in writing, the client owns the finished work once it’s paid for. Jobs (employment) on business HALL are never paid through HALL: HALL isn’t anyone’s employer or payroll.
Chargebacks. If a client disputes the card payment while the money is still held, the job is frozen until the bank decides. Disputing a payment for work that was done is not allowed and can lead to a closed account. Under $20, or with no price, the two of you settle payment between you as in section 8a.
4p. HALL worlds
HALL worlds is the 3D space inside game HALL. The public Plaza is open to everyone signed in while HALL worlds is being tested (HALL may later limit it to Verified adults); your home is open to your friends and anyone in a party with you, and your party’s world to your party. Anyone can build in their own home for free; placing things in the public Plaza takes a current HALL Pass, and there you can move or remove only your own things (HALL keeps paths and the spots people use clear, and can remove anything). Partying up in the world sends the other person an ordinary party invite they can accept or decline. Voice in a world (near you, or from the debate stage) is live and never recorded by HALL; what you say there is covered by the Community Guidelines, and anyone can mute you or block you. What you place in a world (from the kit, your photos, or 3D models you upload) and what your HALL folk wears (hats, outfits and held items made from uploaded models) is content you post under these Terms and the Community Guidelines. Uploading your own models takes a Verified account with a current HALL Pass; you confirm you have the rights to anything you upload. A model shows only in your own rooms until HALL has looked at it. After that you can share it free (anyone may place it from then on; a shared model stays in the shop and stays free until HALL takes it down, whatever happens to your HALL Pass) or sell it at a price you set from $1 to $100: the buyer gets a permanent licence to place it in their worlds on HALL, or wear it there (not to download, copy or use it elsewhere), 90% of the price goes to you through your Stripe account and HALL keeps 10%. Sales are final except where the law requires a refund; a refunded or disputed purchase takes the model back out of the buyer’s worlds. HALL can remove any model, placed thing or worn thing that breaks these Terms; a removed model comes off everyone wearing it.
4q. shop HALL listings paid in HALL
On shop HALL, a listing priced $10 to $3,000 from a Verified seller with payouts set up can be paid in HALL. The buyer pays the listed price by card; the money is held by HALL’s payment processor, Stripe, until the buyer has the item; nothing goes to the seller before then. Each seller appoints HALL as their limited agent to collect payment for their sales, so once the buyer has paid in HALL, the buyer has paid the seller. The sale itself is between the buyer and the seller: HALL doesn’t inspect, hold, ship or guarantee the item, and sellers are independent, not HALL’s employees or agents. Sellers are responsible for describing the item honestly, for their own taxes, and for any sales tax that applies to what they sell; HALL sends tax forms where the law requires.
While the money is held the listing is reserved for the buyer. The two of you arrange to meet; the seller marks the item handed over. When the buyer marks it received, the seller is paid 90% of the price to their bank; HALL keeps 10% and pays the card costs out of it. If the buyer neither marks it received nor reports a problem within 3 days of the seller marking it handed over, the seller is paid. A payout reaches the seller’s bank usually within a week.
Cancelling and problems. Until the seller marks the item handed over, either of you can cancel and the buyer is refunded in full; the listing is available again. After that, if something went wrong (the item isn’t as described, or you never got it), the buyer reports a problem: the money stays held, and HALL decides after hearing both sides, either paying the seller or refunding the buyer in full. That decision settles the payment held in HALL; it doesn’t take away anyone’s right to go to court. Listings paid in HALL can’t be edited, deleted or marked sold out from under the buyer until the sale is complete or cancelled.
Chargebacks. If a buyer disputes the card payment while the money is still held, the sale is frozen until the bank decides. Disputing a payment for an item you received is not allowed and can lead to a closed account. Under $10, over $3,000, trades, free items, and sellers who aren’t set up to be paid in HALL work as in section 8a: you settle up between you when you meet.
5. Debate Conduct
HALL is a platform for civil discourse. While we support open discussion on all topics, the following are prohibited: threats of violence or harm to individuals, sharing personal information of others without consent (doxxing), impersonation of other users, spam or commercial solicitation, content that is illegal under United States law, and harassment or targeted abuse of individual users. Your debate conduct is rated by other users, which builds your public reputation score. The full list of what is and is not welcome is in the Community Guidelines, which are part of these Terms.
6. Voice and Video Calls, Recording, and Sharing
Consent to recording. HALL is a public discourse platform. By participating in any voice or video debate, you acknowledge and agree that the debate may be recorded and that any participant in that debate may save and share it. You are given notice of this before and during every debate. If you do not consent to being recorded, do not participate in a debate. Continuing to participate after this notice constitutes your consent to the recording and to the sharing rights described in this section.
Sharing rights. Subject to the opt-out below, you grant each other participant in a debate, and HALL, a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to record, store, reproduce, publicly display, and share that debate, including your contributions to it, for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform.
Your global opt-out. You may disable sharing of your debate content at any time in Settings ("Allow my debates to be shared"). When you opt out, debates you participate in after that point cannot be shared by anyone. This setting is the mechanism by which you withhold the consent described above; absent opt-out, the consent applies.
Recording lifetime and your choice. A debate recording is held temporarily after the debate ends so participants can choose whether to share it. When any participant chooses to share or to discard it on the post-debate screen, the underlying recording is deleted immediately. If no choice is made, the recording is automatically and permanently deleted no later than 24 hours after the debate ends.
Anonymous Mode (HALL Pass). HALL Pass subscribers may enable Anonymous Mode during a debate, which turns off video and applies voice modulation, so you are not identified in any saved recording and may withhold personal details. Anonymous Mode is available only to HALL Pass subscribers; free users participate non-anonymously.
Jurisdiction notice. Recording-consent laws vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for your own compliance with the laws applicable to you, including any obligation to inform others in your physical location that a call may be recorded. HALL provides in-product recording notice to support, but not to substitute for, your own legal compliance.
7. HALL Pass Subscription
HALL Pass is a paid subscription at $14.99/month (or the local-currency amount shown at checkout), charged from the day you subscribe. All payments are processed by Stripe; HALL never sees or stores your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in Settings → Manage Subscription, and your pass stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Karma packs and donations are one-time Stripe payments.
Refunds: if you cancel within 7 days of being charged and have not used any HALL Pass feature in that period, email support@thegrandhall.xyz for a full refund. Otherwise partial months are not refunded, except where the law of your country requires it (including the withdrawal rights in South Korea’s Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce and Japan’s Specified Commercial Transactions Act). Seller details are on the Legal notices page.
HALL Pass includes: no ads anywhere in HALL; Ad Shield (HALL scans every uploaded video’s speech and on-screen text for ads and sponsorships, labels them, automatically skips every ad segment it finds or that the uploader or two viewers mark, skips videos that are entirely an ad, and puts commercial-free radio stations first; automated detection is very thorough but cannot promise to catch every ad — HALL cannot remove ads that third-party radio stations or podcast publishers broadcast in their own streams); AI-free mode (hides content labelled as made with AI, detected as AI from its file metadata, or flagged by the community — detection depends on those signals and cannot catch everything); HD video in debates and calls; screen sharing; Anonymous Mode; parties of up to 12 people (3 without HALL Pass); the Verified badge (an identity check run by Stripe Identity; HALL never stores your document, and keeps from it only that you are verified and whether you are 18 or older); tips on your profile once Verified (section 4b); the option to random-match only with Verified people (section 4m); priority queue matching; reputation badges; full recording history of YOUR own debates (subject to the consent and anonymous-mode terms in Section 6); and nationwide posting in team HALL.
HALL Pass Jr. In the HALL app you may choose to watch ads toward HALL Pass Jr: every 100 ads you watch give you 30 days in which HALL shows you no ads. HALL Pass Jr only removes HALL’s own advertising; it includes no other HALL Pass feature, no karma and no Verified badge. It is yours alone, has no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged, and is never required to use HALL. An ad counts only once Google confirms to HALL that it was shown; up to 20 count per day, and you may stop at any time without losing the ads already counted. A month earned while another is running starts when that one ends, and you can be at most one month ahead. HALL may change or end HALL Pass Jr; a month you have already earned is kept.
